About the portrait
Will it really look like my dog?
Every portrait is reviewed by a person before it goes any further. You also see it yourself before we print, and we keep adjusting until you are happy.
How is the portrait made?
The portrait is painted digitally in our own style, built and calibrated against real dogs until it held for every coat type: short black hair, wiry blonde, brindle, curly apricot. Every portrait is then reviewed by a person, and the name, crop, background and colour are set by us. That is why two portraits ordered a year apart look like they belong together on a wall.
Can I choose the background colour?
Yes. Four colours: warm white, oat, sage and terracotta. Warm white is the safest for most homes and most coat colours.
Can I have the dog's name on the print?
Yes, set in capitals below the portrait. You can also choose the portrait without a name, and the composition is then adjusted so the margins still work.
Can I change the colours, the crop or the expression?
Yes. When the first proof arrives you simply say what should change and we do it again. There is no cap on the number of changes and it costs nothing extra.
Can several dogs be in the same portrait?
Not at the moment. We make one portrait per dog. If you have several dogs you order a portrait for each, and because the style is the same they belong together on the wall even if you order them at different times.
Do you do cats?
Not yet. We started with dogs in order to do one thing really well first.
Ordering and delivery
When do I pay?
At checkout, when you place the order. The proof comes after that, and you approve it before we print. If you change your mind before production starts you get the full amount back.
When do I get the first proof?
Within 1 working day of your photo being approved.
How soon will the portrait arrive?
Counting from the moment you approve the portrait: 2 to 3 working days for a loose print and 3 to 4 working days for framed, to your door. Before that comes the photo review and the proof, about one working day each.
Will it arrive by a particular date?
If the portrait is a gift with a fixed date, write to hello@sitpretty.se before you order. We will tell you straight whether we can make it. We would rather say no than miss the date.
What sizes are there, and is a frame included?
30×40 cm and 50×70 cm. A frame is only included if you choose a framed option: 1 190 kr for 30×40 cm and 1 690 kr for 50×70 cm. As a loose print without a frame they cost 595 kr and 795 kr respectively. The frames come in light wood, dark wood, black and white, and arrive ready to hang.
What is it printed on?
Thick, matte art paper. Matte is a deliberate choice. The style is chalky and matte, and a glossy surface catches the light in a way that makes the image read as a photograph.
Do you deliver outside Sweden?
We are starting in Sweden and opening more Nordic countries shortly.
About your photo
Which photos work?
An ordinary phone photo is enough. It works best when the dog is looking towards the camera in soft light, with the head large in frame. Messy backgrounds make no difference; they are painted away. See the photo guide.
What happens if my photo will not hold up?
We review every photo before we paint. If it will not hold up we get in touch and ask for another, and it costs you nothing.
What do you do with the photo I upload?
We use it to make your portrait, and for nothing else. If we would like to show your portrait in marketing we ask first, and you can say no without it affecting anything. The original files are deleted after twelve months. See the privacy policy.
If you change your mind
Can I cancel?
Yes, with a full refund right up until we begin work on your portrait. We email you when production starts. After that the portrait is made to order for you and the right of withdrawal no longer applies — see Cancellation and returns.
That is also why you always get to approve the portrait before it is printed.
What if I do not like the portrait?
We keep adjusting until you are happy, at no extra cost and with no cap on the number of changes. You never have to approve something you are not happy with, and nothing is printed until you have said yes.

Memorial portraits
Can I order a portrait of a dog who has passed away?
Yes, and it is one of the most common reasons people order. The photo does not need to be perfect. We do not enlarge the image; we repaint the dog at print resolution, so even old phone photos work.
